AEO Authorization Application and Process

컨텐츠서비스메뉴

What is the AEO authorization application process?

The overall AEO authorization process is as follows: companies submit applications for AEO status, their compliance with the AEO authorization criteria is confirmed through documentary and on-site audits, and then they are finally accredited as AEOs by the AEO Deliberation Committee. The companies accredited as AEOs are subject to post management through comprehensive audits with respect to whether they are properly maintaining and implementing the AEO authorization criteria.

AEO authorization application and method

First, the applying companies (applicants) should look into whether there is any ground for their disqualification according to the AEO authorization criteria. Once it has been ascertained that there is no ground for their disqualification, the companies should conduct self-assessment (SA) to find out whether the SA results meet the AEO authorization criteria. The companies whose SA results meet the AEO authorization criteria should complete a statement on the current status of their export and import management by item in each criterion. In addition, Internal AEO Managers of the applicants should complete an advance training course of 16 or more hours. When the steps mentioned above have been completed, the companies should finally submit applications together with required documents via UNI-PASS, the e-clearance system of the KCS (http://unipass.customs.go.kr). In order to figure out whether the preparations are appropriate, companies can apply for a preliminary audit before applying for AEO status, but this is optional.
